I’m currently walking through 1 Peter with a dea I’m currently walking through 1 Peter with a dear friend. Here are a few thoughts and notes from the first chapter. 💕

We can rejoice, even in trials, because of the living, imperishable hope we have in Christ (contrary to the things of this world which will fade away). Additionally, Scripture says that trials serve to show the genuineness of our faith. Trials will inevitably come. Because of this, we need to prepare our minds for action and set our hope fully on Christ.

Throughout 1 Peter 1, there is a continual theme of HOPE in the midst of trials and a continual contrast of the decaying, dying things of this world to an imperishable, living hope. The death and despair and decline of the things of this world serve to give us perspective. They can enable us to better see just how GOOD the news we have is. Just as the knowledge of total depravity allows us to marvel at grace all the more, the tragedies of a fallen world allow us to more rightly view the wonder of a lasting, imperishable hope. Perhaps, if we didn’t have trials in this life, we’d be tempted to hold too tightly to the things of this world instead of looking to eternity with expectancy.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1:3-7‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“‘All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever.’ And this word is the good news that was preached to you.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1:24-25‬ ‭ESV‬‬

I love her so much it hurts 🥹 Time seems to fly even faster with your second baby, and I’m constantly wishing I could slow it down or at least go back and relive every moment again. What a gift you are, Emersyn. 💕
Wow. Just wow. Our trip to the Ark Encounter & Cre Wow. Just wow. Our trip to the Ark Encounter & Creation Museum was so much better than we had even anticipated it would be. We had the best time experiencing Bible history and exploring a science museum from a creationist worldview. ✨

Interesting Facts about the Ark Encounter & Creation Museum:
• There are 3 floors inside the Ark available to tour with breathtaking exhibits. These exhibits show you how life may have looked inside the Ark & how science is, in fact, in support of the universal flood and the Biblical account.
• The Ark Encounter also includes a zoo, zip lining, & other activities for the family. We spent six hours there, just going through the Ark itself, the small zoo, the incredible playground, & the gift shop with homeschool resources.
• The Creation Museum & Ark Encounter are a 45 minute drive from one another and are full of exhibits and activities that you won’t want to miss. I recommend allotting a day to each location.
• The Creation Museum has over 140 exhibits, including a planetarium and an exhibit showing Israel during the time of Jesus.
•Kids ten and under are FREE, so this trip is perfect for large families.
•Both locations are extremely family friendly. There are nursing rooms for moms, extensive playgrounds, and exhibits that will enthrall toddlers and adults alike.

This trip is so impactful for any believer. This will remain one of our family’s favorite trips, and we look forward to returning when our children are older. ✨
